Hi
I am writing on behalf of 2 friends of mine. They are respectively parents of 15 and 16 year old italian boys
They are good kids from very decent families. They do not drink or smoke and they are very good at babysitting Grin
They will be going to english school but it would be great for them to spend time with a british family. Will be out during the day but should be home for dinner time.
My friends say that I should let anybody know that "the minute they mess up they will come and get them like a shot"
They can pay for rent and food but also offer accommodation in return (beautiful homes in tuscany btw)
If you can help get in touch Thank you

We might be able to help. I have a few questions ...

Do they know where they want to go to English school?

When are they thinking of coming to the UK?

How long do they plan to be here?

We're already planning to rent rooms out to language students this year. We live in Eastbourne and there are lots of Language schools here. It's a nice, safe town with lots of holiday stuff to do, and cool Brighton just down the road.

The people from the agency we're going through usually are all 18+ but we'd be happy to consider younger teens if they are, as you say, good kids.

Please feel free to reply to me here, or or PM me.

I'm sure if they're interested you'll have lots of questions - please feel to ask away Smile

Hey thanx
I am not sure what are doing doing with regard to school tbh. My friends asked about housing but I will ask them.
They would like to come for 2 weeks in July.
London is their first choice although I have told them that 2 weeks in london during summer holiday they will not get so much out of it because of all other european students. If it was me I will rather send them toBrighton or Cambridge (smaller towns = more contact with british)
If you have any link for schools around you pls send them forward
Are you a mix italian/british family? With kids?

Morning! Smile

We're British (English / Scottish), and have a little boy who's 2 years old. We also have a (lovely) student lodger staying with us (22).

We have no Italian at all! However I speak some French, I picked Spanish up fairly quickly when I was in Peru and I'd be delighted to learn some Italian. I have some Italian friends I could call on if I needed something very important communicated! I expect we'd muddle through. Do they have any English?

This is the school that the language students who stayed with us last year went to St Giles.

There are a fair few language schools here though. Here's a list

There's actually one on our road. I suspect the courses there are residential though. I have no idea how good it is, but the park by our house is full of (mainly Spanish) teenagers in the summer! Ardmore In fact it feels like the whole of Eastbourne gets taken over by teenagers in the summer!

I can understand the pull of London - I'm a Londoner, and Brighton also (very cool!) but if you're interested in Eastbourne, let us know!

One thing I should say - we're currently advertising the spare room for rent; we're expecting to get a student and that the room will be free again in the summer. However I won't know this for sure for a few weeks - possibly not until the beginning of March.

goodmorning!
So exciting I want to come too :-)
About the boys yes they can get by with english a bit. They are currently at Liceo which is like A-Leve college. They have studied english for at least 5 years but lets be honest, the way they teach english in italy is pretty crap :-)
I will pass on the info about schools. If they wanted to ask you any further question would you be willing to send me your phone?
It would be me making the call I think with parents standing by
btw if you have any pict of your house or surrounding that may be good too.
I am meeting up tomorrow afternoon (saturday), would u be able to take a call?
