my 4 yr old son is terrified of going to the doctors/dentist and getting his hair cut, he just flips out and screams and sometimes he gets that upset he is sick, just the slightest mention of going sets him off. can anyone with any similar experiences help or give some much needed advice.

I have no suggestion but my DS is exactly the same, i have tried everything. I have just excepted thats the way he is.

I try not to prepare him too much these days as its actually worse for him. I have tried to take him as much as possible with me, and tell him its not his turn, this has helped a bit.

You have my sympathies!

ds was the same at 3-4, just kept taking him everytime I went and he slowly progressed from letting the dentist look in his mouth while he was standing in a corner at the otherside of the room to rushing into the chair to get there first.

Treats or stickers everytime he did better than time before helped too.

Reverse psychology (ds can be awkward) worked too. Got many strange looks in waiting room by saying "you are not allowed to sit in the chair because its only for big boys to show the dentist their teeth", "no you can't go in the chair", "maybe next time if you are good".

Keep taking him to get him used to the environment, but no pressure,
