Ouch, kids really know how to hurt you don't they?

My 5 year old shouted that no one cared about him because I wouldn't read him a story. I wouldn't read him a story because he hadn't done as I asked, and I had asked him several times throughout the day. He doesn't know he is born never mind what it is like to have parents who really don't care.

My DD (is 4) sings that no one loves her in a really sad little voice when I dont give into her moaning and only read her 2 stories!!

IAmReallyFabNow · 16/01/2011 19:58

So this is quite common with little ones then!

Lol, my 2yo DD says 'oh, you don't love me mummy, that makes me sad' . Followed by a small hiccupping sob.

Just for tiny things like not allowing her ketchup on her mash! I want to blame MIL for teaching her, but I'm not sure i can...

Has MIL taught her the ketchup thing or the sob?

FWIW I let my kids have ketchup on whatever they want as their is a lot of cancer in my family and tomatoes are meant to help fight against it.

BTW mash and ketchup is delicious!

I'd like to think both, but probably just the ketchup! I came in one day when PIL were staying over a weekend to find MIL feeding her a bag of hula hoops with ketchup to dip in as a snack... Hmm

I think the sob is her own doing. A kind of instinctive manipulation!

DD (9) has taken to saying "I am so stupid, I don't do anything right. You hate me, don't you?" if I have to pull her up on anything. Anything at all...despite many conversations that no one is born knowing everything, and that every child is given parents whose job it is to teach them. It's doing my head in, tbh.

These aren't even big important instructions. Simple things like "DD, watch out that your cup doesn't fall off the table, you've set it right on the edge."

nannynobnobs · 16/01/2011 22:19

I get "You NEVER LISTEN!!" from stroppy DD1. Last time I responded "I can't HELP but listen to you, you've been in a noisy mard for the last hour!"

I have just had back chat from the 7 year old so I am in my room on here trying not to cry. Have had a whole weekend of really bad behaviour and cheek from them all and have had enough.

What a load of rubbish, Smack them round the head and lock them under the stairs for an hour....

Then they'll appreciate your Love.

If that doesnt work then take away their water supply, if you control the wateryou have control of the child. Trust me it works.

Regards, DJF.
