Tips for getting DS to stay in bed

Just changed my DS 2.10yrs cotbed into a bed (he started climbing out) and now he finds it great fun to get out.
TBH was expecting this, but would welcome advice on best way to nip it in the bud. We have just introduced the gro-clock but its so blooming bright, im not sure its going to work. He is a gina ford baby so used to black out room at nightGrin

Do I just leave him to it until he wears himself out playing and falls asleep - as long as he's not too noisy?
OR go up every 5,6,7,8,9minutes etc and put him back in bed until he gets bored?!?

How did you get yours to stay in bed?!

can i ask why you have introduced a night light? It may be partly him being confused about being expected to sleep when his room is still light?

If it were me, if he is not distressed or carrying on, just playing quietly, I would just leave him to play. if he starts carrying on or comes out of his room, put him back in his bed.

if mine plays in his room i leave him to it but if he comes out the room i always go and keep putting him back. i put story cd on in his room to keep him in there but dont know whether you would find that too much stimulation if he's used to the pitch black etc?

well, the problem has been going on over a week, and only started using the clock the other night so its not the only reason if it is contributing. But we have put a muslin over it so you can still see the colour and its not as bright!!

I think I am just going to have to write off the day time nap. Getting him to stay in bed during the day is just impossible.

He plays quietly for all of 10m and then starts calling for me.

Tonight was better, am keeping my fingers crossed the clock works...
