Maybe leave it for a month or so and come back to it? It could be that he simply isn't ready.

Hiya Cherie1, how about buying him some Kandoo wipes and leave them next to the potty - I found that my little boy loved his own wipes and he soon progressed to the toilet!! HTH

Honestly, totally leave along a while then try again. This worked with dd, I started trying just before her 3rd birthday, she showed no signs of doing anything and we had a week from hell, nightmares, screaming and holding poo and wee for ages until I could see how uncomfortable she was. Tried again when she was 3 years 2 months and it went like a dream, so easy.
