Would you let dc visit someone after a stroke?

I don't know what to do. MIL had a stroke a few days ago and is in hospital partially paralysed and unable to speak. She managed to communicate (through gestures and sounds) to dh that she would like the children to come and see her.

My feeling is that I would prefer to wait for a week or so at least in the hope that her condition improves a little as I am worried that it may be distressing and worrying for dd1 (6) and possibly even dd2 (2). DH is keen for them to visit as he feels it will cheer her up.

Does anyone have any experience of this situation?

We took them, and I think it was the right thing to do. Both girls were very excited to be visiting MIL, and when we got there dd1 was quite bouncy though dd2 was quiet, but they both wanted to kiss her etc, so I think it was fine. MIL was delighted.

So thank you all for reassuring me and convincing me that it was the right thing to do.

Glad it went well. Was thinking about your post after and in this case think it might have been more scary for the children to feel she was TOO ill for them to see her - fertile imaginations can be scarier than the mundane reality of serious illness. And I'm sure it will boost her recovery to get jolly visits from grandchildren. Hope all goes well for her and the rest of you.
