Yes. It was a real bore.

TwinSetAndPearls · 02/10/2005 20:52

Yes, although they have never been checked since.

what A Levels?

TwinSetAndPearls · 02/10/2005 20:55

I am sure there is a period when records have been lost so people can make up their results. I think it is around the mid 90's - of course it could be one of thsoe urban myths so don't start making up results on my advice.

I think I had to show my certificates when I started teacher training - maybe it is a London Uni thing.

It was soooooooooooooooo long ago I can't remember .

starlover · 02/10/2005 20:57

yes

If you apply when you are actually doing your a levels the results get sent to the uni you've applied to anyway but if you are applying at a later date they do require the certificates.

Gem13 · 02/10/2005 21:01

The A'level I'd taken had been sent to the uni. But the one I'd got 5 years before I'd never claimed the certificate. I argued with the person who was checking my details that as I didn't live in the same town it was going to be a right hassle if she didn't enrol me and she did!

That said, DH applied as a mature student to Birkbeck and had to write to his exam boards to get copies.

I don't recall them being checked unless it's done automatically behind the scenes or something. I went to uni in 92.
