Chicken pox

Hi,

We went to see some friends last week with my nearly 11 week old daughter. The next day my friends husband (who we also saw) came out with chicken pox!!! He didn't hold my daughter but we sat next to
him on the sofa and my friend held her. Anyway, my question is how likely is it she will get it and do I have to stay away from other babies in case she does have it. I have looked it up online and apparently it can take up to 21 days to come out-do I have to quarantine us til after this time? Probably a really stupid question but I don't want to put other babies at risk but I don't want to be really precious and not see anyone if this is OTT! Any advice?

Mine had two or three incidents like this before she actually got it. Would just keep away from pregnant people and anyone you know who's immuno impaired (cancer treatment etc), perhaps mention if you're going to another mum's house. Not a doctor though, someone else may have different advice. Once they go to pre-school, it spreads round like nobody's business, but they all still go to pre-school as normal.

My baby has today got a few red dots on ther chest, chin and nappy area. Do you think it's the pox? Can I go to the dr to get her checked? She's only 13 weeks old!!

Are you still under a health visitor? If so phone them and talk it through.

If she's got the spots just out taking her to the GP is not the best option because of being contagious to others. But again if you phone they will no doubt get a GP to call you back and talk through your options.

My youngest had them at 9 months and it was like a mild irritation yet his elder brother was just 3 and he was really fed up and unwell.
