If you could say one positive thing you got from being parented by your own parents what would it be?

I think I can make anything - recipes, furniture, clothes - I'll have a go at anything. Doesn't always work but I thank them for somehow giving me that belief.

My mum, helped me to buy my first car by matching what I had saved. So I appreciated it, and learnt to save up for things.

Taught me how important friends were.

They were very sociable, we always had people over or were visiting, and I remember my mum saying that "you can't choose your family but you can choose your friends". I didn't understand what she meant until much later in life!

My mum is still best friends with a girl she met when she was 9 years old! My dad's best friend since primary school sadly died a few years ago and I know he misses him very much.

Didn't give me everything I wanted

But did give me an education and told me to always do my best.
