Help - DD (10) turned into sulky teenager overnight

DD is nearly 11 and still very much a little girl. However just in the last few days she seems to have turned into a sulky teenager!

Not sure if it's because she's not at school, or because we're spending more time together than usual. She is usually easy going and happy but this week has been grumpy, bored and not interested in anything not involving her friends.

DH and I had a chat tonight and are going to threaten confiscation of her Christmas presents if it continues.

Could this be hormones? Maybe I'm being too hard on her - what are the first signs of puberty?

Any advice on how to deal with this very welcome!

I'm marking my place as my DD seems to be the same just now.....

Shes tired and overwrought all the routine in her day has gone a few early nights and time back at school she will be ok (its just a taster of whats to come in a year or so)- 10 year olds soon forget they need their sleep and they are still quite small and growing.

jolly you could be right - we have been allowing her to stay up late which probably isn't helping - will make sure she is in bed at a decent hour tonight. School isn't back till the 10th - but I'm back at work and DH off next week (opposite form this week) so I'll get some respite!

Forfestivesake glad I'm not alone...

No she will be back to herself once shes back at school ,I think Christmas is always a bit of an anti climax afterwards and children get bored quite quickly coupled with less sleep and you have a cranky kid.
