What d the numbers on the front of Wii Games mean?

so sorry for posting here Confused but Im sure someone on here can answer my query.

On the front of Wii games there is always a number symbol - ie 3 or 12.

Any ideas what it is surely it cant be age?

They are recommended age rating - the grey/whire ones are PEGI recommendations (so not legal restrictions, although some retailers will treat them as such) If you look on the back it'll tell you why. For example - Call of Duty 3 on the Wii (first game I grabbed off the shelf!) is a PEGI 16+ and on the back it has a fist next to it to indicate violent conten.

The red BBFC restrictions (15 and 18) are the same as on films. HTH
