Christmas card etiquette at nursery / pre-school

Found a couple of Christmas cards in DD's pigeon hole from her friends. Should we reciprocate? And keep a stash of cards in my bag unless we get anymore?
WE don't normally do christmas cards as I'd always assumed that they didn't give each other christmas cards until they were old enough to write them themselves.

I wouldn't bother unless the dc actively want to. But it's a nice christmas ritual IMO.

we just gave to ds's group and he did have a go at writing them and put lots of kisses on them (xxxx - he was 4 in Oct). There is only 8 in the group including him so we didnt do that many at all.

DD1 only started with Christmas cards once she expressed an interest in 'writing' them herself (so Reception, when she could do her name herself)

DD2 wanted to give them out before but only because she saw dd1 doing them

I don't think there is a need in Nursery... think of the planet

Think I'm going to reciprocate. The cards have given DD so much pleasure, she's actually clutching them whilst asleep .
Love the idea that this happiness could be reciprocated.

And, it would give DD a reason to sign her name

That's very cute TooTired. We forget why we have these rituals sometimes ...

Tbh I have bulk bought pound shop christmas cards* here because ds and dd have enjoyed 'writing' them so much. Dd has got SO into writing them this year. But no pressure (not doing them for ds's playgroup - don't know any of their names anyway! Feel slightly sad though, he was so happy to get one from his keyworker...)

DS loves recieveing cards. He gives some, for those at preschool whos names he remebers. This year he is giving them teh fronts of last years cards ( that we recieved and I saved) as postcards, coz I am tight. And it saves trees.

He has decorated the "plain" side with stampers and stickers and written his name.

My rule is not to get too hung up with tit for tat card giving, just send to those kids he Wants to.

My youngest is at pre-school has had a load of cards given to her- she loves opening them- hasn't a clue and is not interested who they are from. If several people haven't sent her a card, i woulnd't know who- I am sure most busy mums don't keep tabs. I got a class list and my daughter scribbled on all the cards which she thought ws fun as she was copying her siblings- I am sure she doesn't know who half the children are she has sent them to. In short- I would'nt worry about it- unless she wants to.

I wasn't sure that I would give out Xmas cards this year but then I thought, "What the heck" and wrote them out. My DD (2.5 years) was so chuffed handing out the cards to all her friends that I am glad I did it now :-)
