Why is my changing mat turning pink?

I have a cream coloured changing mat and about a week a go I noticed a little patch had developed a pink tinge. Today I noticed that several more pink-tinged patches have appeared, all along the same edge of it. I've tried cleaning them off with baby wipes but they're not shifting. Does anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it please?

Thanks very much!

It may be bacteria. Try some antibacterial spray. It may be worth changing the mat.

I think there is a particular type of bacteria that produces pink patches (usually in showers). Try bleach - or else bin I'm afraid!

Rubbish. Ok, I'll try antibacterial stuff. I wonder where it's come from though Confused not seen it elsewhere
