my 1st is 5 and my 2nd is 5 1/2 months, \i definitely want a 3rd but not immediately. It took us 1 yr to get pg with the second so I was wonderinf when I should prepare to try for the 3rd.

Sorry don't have any advice as I only have 2, I'm not sure if we'll be having another, DS1 is 4y 8m and DS2 is almost 19 weeks, if we have another I don't think we will leave it this long again as we don't want the impact on DS2 like we had on DS1.

What sort of age gap would you like?

i personally dont think it matters - you cope whatever and both small and large age gaps have advantages. I am pg with no 3 and when he/she is born dd2 will be 3.5 and dd1 will be 6.5. thats fine by me - dd1 and 2 play beautifully together (for a while!) with a 3 year gap.

It depends on what you are used to.

I have 18 months between mine and there will be 26 months between 2 and 3.

The first 2 are such a gang (at 19 months and 3!) that I thought I would have to have 4 if I left too big a gap otherwise the 3rd child wouldn't get a look in.

Had an age gap of 2yrs 3 months between dd1 and ds1. Found it difficult as she didn't understand and was really jealous. Had 2 yrs and 9 months between ds1 and ds2 and didn't have many problems. A little jealousy but he was too busy playing with dd1. My dd1 is now 7 and has different interests to the boys ds1 (4 2/3) and ds2 (2). Am lucky that last two are same sex I think.
