potty training - a complete disaster??

hi there

my dd is 3 in a few weeks, and we've been potty training since the beginning of Sept

we had a baby in June, so left if til now to get her out of nappies.

however, it doesn't seem to me to be going well at all especially when we are at home. She is having lots of accidents and won't tell us when she needs the toilet. Now she is refusing to get on the potty or toilet (at home) and this lunchtime we had full on tantrum. She has had tantrums at other times too and throws the potty across the room. However, she seems ok at nursery (though still not telling them she wants to go) . My Dh thinks we should keep going, but I wonder if she's not quite ready and should just let it calm down for a while

any thoughts or experiences similar out there???

Hi redheadmum, I can't give any advice but I'm going through a near identical situation. All started this week so I'll watch this thread with interest. My DD is 2.3yrs and was going so well but I think it may have been too soon for her.

the fact is you cannot make her do it. if you think it is just causing issues then i would leave it for a few weeks then try again, making sure you use lots of bribes
