Hello. Mine has just started reception too. She is saying similar things. I think in our case that the transition from pre-school was difficult for her. She was allowed free play there - did what she liked, when she liked. Suddenly she's expected to sit still and listen - for a lot of the time. There is "workshop time" which is meant to be free play - but she tells me she's being told not to play in wendy house now, she must go and do a self portrait or something. She also tells me people are missing playtime because they didn't concentrate hard enough. She has been using words like "boring" and "hateful" when they are not words we've used with her at home. I get the impression she gets very little attention - has gone from having a key worker who paid attention to 5 children to a teacher who has 30. I think what I'm hoping is that it's just a very big change for them and that they'll settle with time. They are also suddenly thrown into a class of 30 new faces and that must be stressful too.

They may both be getting very, very tired. If they seem to be OK while they're there, I wouldn't worry too much for now, and see how they get on after the Christmas break.
