Gift Ideas for 6 year old boy

My 6 year old son's birthday is in November so he has just recieved lots of lovely loot for his birthday. Now, understandably, family are asking what he would like for Christmas. His own wish list is very small and mostly consists of DS games, having been given a ds for his birthday by my parents.
Can anyone suggest a really good gift for a 6 year boy?
He has quite a lot of Playmobil and Lego and enough toy cars/hot wheels to last the next few generations.
We are trying not to just fill the house with Bakugan, Ben 10 etc but we are totally stumped.
Thanks in advance for some inspiration!!

New Doctor' Sonic screwdriver, Dalek bubble bath and PJs (plus Tardis wardrobe)?

Or one of the Scalextric sets.

and a bug maker seem to be high on ds's wish list (5 & 6).

Q20

Brilliant successs with boys especially of 5 to 10. I've given the standard version, not the kids' one - I don't know if the kids' one is any better.

Basically, you think of an object, it asks you questions (they scroll along a screen), you answer yes/no/sometimes/don't know by pressing the buttons, and it guesses what you're thinking.

DS wants a real digital camera - Yay - here's to the end of Ben 10!!

Dr Who seems to be his next obsession so he is also getting a sonic screwdriver

Art things?

My dd2 is 7 next week and has asked for an "art kit" so we are getting her loads of stuff in a bag from Hobbycraft pencils, paints, proper watercolour paper etc. She knows, she's very excited.

She's getting a rabbit for CHristmas, if that helps!

Ummm, how about:
Globe or Atlas
Board games (if you can bear it)
Microscope
Box of magic tricks
Meccano
Walkie Talkie
Skateboard

How's that for starters...

Thanks everyone - that is certainly food for thought! CluckyKate, I suspect we should just send you out doing our shopping for everyone - you are full of fantastic ideas! Thank you!

I nanny a just turned 6 year old and he got a LeapFrog Interactive Explorer Globe which is wonderful. Pricey though, so shop around for best price. Good way to learn about the World.
(his younger brother also loves it!)

ToysRus has the LeapFrog Explorer Globe for £50. Ignore the 8+ on it... a nearly 3 year old can use it - perfect for a 6 year old.
