I was looking at duplo for Ds for christmas and it's expensive isnt it! Shock

I saw that thread about somewhere doing cheap playmobile and wondered if there was an equivalent for duplo.

Any ideas?

Mega Bloks. Although the quality's really poor by comparison.

We've got the mega blocks and they are ok for teeny builders but very limited in what you can do.

The idea was to start off with some basic stuff and see how much he likes them- and then maybe it can be a standard gift idea for the next few years.
Ds will be 21 mo by Xmas so almost ready for it and he loves building at the mo

I'll check out eBay and the bricklinks site

soppy, when DS was your DS's age I bought a bucket of second hand Duplo on eBay, just plain bricks mostly. He wasn't that interested (apart from getting me and DP to build him towers Hmm) until he was approaching 3 TBH, but he's very into it now and we asked/suggested that relatives added to it for Christmas/birthdays. Now he has a big box of bricks and some figures/animals/vehicles and it gets a lot of use.

We were also given Mega Bloks which are loads cheaper and are almost compatible with Duplo but they're crappy quality and don't click together so firmly, which is frustrating for them when they don't have a great grasp of physics!

they are cheap in price but quality is ok and it is compatible with legos duplos

i bought some for DS bday a big box for £13

For new
Boots do 3 for 2 on toys over the Christmas period and they normally stock duplo.
We got the fire station set from play.com and it was a bargain.
If your going for 2nd hand then try Ebay like other suggestions Or try an NCT sale you might be able to pick up a bargain.
