This afternoon 3.5 years old DS was pulling his penis out of the top of his trousers. I gently said it was best not to, and said "you don't see Daddy with his winky out do you ?" DS said "yes I do" in between a few questions he told me that Daddy showed him his winky in his bedroom and then peed in his face. Asked where I was, he said I had gone out. DS laughed through telling me this, then said that it had been a bad dream that he had had a few days ago.

DS can come up with wild stories sometimes involcing places he wasn't at and people who weren't there, espeically when telling me about his dreams and it was a brief chat while he was playing. DH and I have been having a rough patch lately and aren't getting on well, so no easy way to discuss this.

WTF do I do now ? Is this just 3 year old humour being all about boy bits and pee ? Or should I be worried ?

I think is normal. We are pretty open about willies and wotnot in our house and DS does and says the most weird things . In the middle of dancing around the kitchen all of a sudden he pulled out his willy and wiggled it around. He has just turned 4 by the way ( not 17 or anything)
Your DS doesn't sound upset or traumatised about it - which makes me think it is made-up.

Boys and their willies - sets the tone for the rest of lives I think. They seem to see it as a little person or toy rather than part of their body.

Sleepycat - that's how I felt. Like it was a bit out pf place.

But what now ? I am really scared by all of the options.

i've got girls but my eldest went through a 'X weed on me so i weed on X then we all weed and then there was a poo. poo and wee! hahahahaha' phase.

she'd go on and on about weeing on people. it's passed now but has unfortunately moved on to boobies. tis driving me nutso.

Roo83 · 09/11/2010 07:30

My ds (2.5) has told me several times he's poo'd on me and that he wants to wee on his sister, and apparently the big bad wolf (his imaginary friend) has Thomas pants the same as his! I think most likely your ds thinks he's being funny. I'd just maybe be a bit more aware and watch out for anything, but I do think it's unlikely to be true from the context it's been said in

i agree mjinhiding.

more likely he's seen his dad peeing in the toilet or getting changed.

my daughter once launched into an enormous tale that culminated in us all peeing on each other. she was about 4 at the time and this was the most hilarious thing in the world to her. she also went through a fascination with daddy's bits phase. i think helplines aren't needed here.

MangoTango · 09/11/2010 11:19

My 3 year old finds anything toilet related hilarious and makes up all sorts of stories about people pooing and weeing here there and everywhere when it didn't really happen. I can even imagine her saying what your son said as a joke and thinking it was hilarious. She told me this morning that my dh gave her no drink or breakfast but when i sent him a cross text it turned out he gave her cereal, brioche and milk and she ate the lot! I wouldn't have been worried in your situation, unless you think your dh really might have done this. I would never have believed for a second that my dh would do it. If you think yours may have then obviously more worrying.

Thank you all for your supportive comments.

I gently asked DS about it again today to see if the story held.. and today when asked if Daddy showed him his winky he shook his head and said "no" as if it was the silliest suggestion ever. Then told me about seeing faces in the windows of the house after I had locked up ! He does have an imagination.

I amd glad to hear about similar sorts of stories from other kids. Feeling more calm about it all now. I might be more alert to anything similar being said in future, but for now I am going to assign it to toddler finding anything to do with toileting to be funny.

I have split up with my husband and he sees his son every other weekend. I think DS was at a stage where everything was a bit of a story. He would tell me daddy said this daddy did this then he was telling his daddy I was doing this I was doing that which I was not so knew it was a bit weird. At first I was worried but then when me and the ex husband spoke about it we did end up laughing! He made it up. He was about your DS age. On a serious note my DS did say that my partner of 3 years had hit him so I checked it out the story changed like the ones did with me and my ex husband. I still asked my partner and he was hurt but understood. I said I had to ask. My mum was abused as a child and her brothers (3 of them are still having problems now at 50) and sisters were also. So I dont care what people say about your wondering if anything happened its always good to keep an open mind but dont let it get the better of you! I found with my DS if you asked the question over and over the answer would change as it was a story. He did once get naked and a girl got naked in the wendy house at the nursery they found them and informed us of what happened they had to try and keep a straight face. It did not happen again and DS storys have gone now hes older.

sounds like 3 year old "toilet talk" humour to me but only you know if alarm bells should be ringing or not.
