shaken up!

Walked to the shops with DS1 and DS2 did my shopping and was struggling with bags and DS2.
suddenly he legged it towards the road, I grabbed him by the bak of his jacket and pulled him back.
Now he is laying down on chair with his blanket and I am shaking and feeling guilty for grabbing him.

I did say sorry but I feel like crying

will he go in a buggy - or reins? I am always hoiking my DS by his hood ... well, in emergencies. Dont worry :)

He is too big for a buggy I have had to get rid of it - well stop using it anyway.
And normally he walks so nicely - I was dealing with ds1 at the same time
it was my fault as I let go of him to change bags over to other hand and he legged it.

Er, how bad would you feel if he'd run into traffic? I don't know how old he is but you did the right thing. If you gave him a fright then good - perhaps it'll prevent him doing it again.

He is safe and well, let yourself off the hook.

Sounds like he's old enough to know he shouldn't leg it.

there is nothing wrong with restraint, if the alternative is running out into the road, even a quiet road - as the next time there might be a car.

You did the right thing. I hope he learns from it, even though that process is difficult today.

Agree with the others, you saved him from a dangerous situation so don't feel guilty.

You've apologised for grabbing him, I assume explained why you grabbed him, don't apologise again or it could turn into an attention thing for him.

Is he really too big for a buggy when there is shopping involved? 3 is far too young to have any road sense and real idea of danger.
How old is the other one?

Oh, and I don't know why you're upset that you yanked him back - you did exactly the right thing!

He really is too big. I have 2 buggies 1 is a zia and the other a techo xt and he looks really awkward and uncomfortable in both, he looks squashed up.

Everyone is right here you yanked him back and he is not is A&E right now!!! Your doing your best dont give your self a hard time. Can you maybe get him to focus on something do you have a dog (needs to be well trained!) maybe hold the lead with him? Or do you have a buggy for the other child? If so get him to hold the dogs lead or his sisters buggy? Or get him to hold hands with his sister?

Ok the dog thing looks silly now!! I let my son do it whilst next to him and my dog the dog is great she is very well behaved and DS thought he was helping me so paid more attention to what he was doing stopping at pavements watching cars....I was always there but let him tell the dog to stop and wait at the pavment. It seemed to have worked?

Why did you say you feel sorry??? You did absolutely right thing by grabbing him and saving his life- nothing to feel sorry about or apologise for, IMO.

Get a wrist strap. At least threaten him with the use of one if he EVER does that again. Don't feel guilty, you did the only thing you could!
