How do I decide if I want another baby?

Regular question here, I'm sure, but would appreciate informed advice.

Have come on a long journey from unexpected pregnancy, nearly termination through the regular hedious new born angst to being very happily besotted by my 16wo.

Funny thing,am having thoughts now re another baby. But, I'm 42, DH 48. We had excellent trouble free pregnancy, reasonably straightforward birth.

Looking at threads, seems one thing is definitely harder than having a baby, it's having a baby plus a toddler, and due to my age, would have to get after it time wise.

Discuss!

going from 1 to 2 is hard and the smaller the age gap the harder it is. however having 2 close together you get the baby/toddler stage over and done with quicker and in one go iykwim but prepare for the first 2 years to be a blur and you have to be committed to do it and prepared for the slog. you're changing nappies anyway so one more is not a big deal. taking one to the toilet then changing the others nappy is a bit all over the place especially if you want to pee too!

your question, should you have another baby? imo based on your age and you're thinking about it, i would just go for it! your dh can turn 50 as a dad of 2!

i am so thankful i have 2 healthy children, its amazing to watch the interaction between the two of them and knowing they have each other is priceless!

go for it!

oh, on a sidenote, twins are more common with older parents i believe!

im not sure i can help...i think i get the impression that u want another deep down. i think u should just go for it...better to act now than have the decision taken away from you...im also contemplating whether i want another one, i always wanted two children but I have a step daughter and a little boy of my own. not sure if i want another one to make it 3 yet...hmmm

good luck with the decision (and the baby making) :)

The closest I got to feeling broody was to think actually it wouldn't be too hideous to have another Grin

Now 6 weeks with dd2 & yes it's bloody hard & there have been a few meltdowns, but less than I expected & no regrets at all.
