hes a third baby so i probably should have stopped at 6 months Grin. But Ive just come to the end of the formula box and think, whats the point!
Hes putting god knows what off the floor in his mouth, and is having full fat milk with cereal.

How 11 months? 11 months just or 11 months and 3 weeks? I would definitely stop the sterilising but might just do one last box of formula before moving on I think.

Although thinking about it, I probably wouldn't bother. Scrap that last post, put him on full fat

I didn't sterilise at all. If you wash things with hot soapy water or bung them in the dishwasher, you don't need to.

And I think a lot of people use cows' milk from 11 months.

I had the same thing with dd and happened to be at the gp and he said 11 months was fine that there was no magic switch flicked at 12 months exactly and to just go onto full fat milk. I also did consider dd to have a good diet as she has always been a good eater. Had it been ds1 I might have thought twice as he did/does eat hardly anything.
Sterelising fine to drop.

Jacksmybaby · 30/10/2010 18:56

AFAIK the only significance of 12 months is that children are by then likely to have a varied balanced solids diet. So assuming that is the case I'd say it's definitely ok to drop the formula at 11mo.

Octaviapink · 31/10/2010 13:06

I never sterilised anything. DD was onto cow's milk at 11 months and she was fine.

brettgirl2 · 31/10/2010 21:18

I think Jacksmybaby is right - DD went onto full fat when she dropped to 2 bottles a day(she was eating really well) . Probably around 11 months. I don't like germs though, so kept sterilising....

Karoleann · 01/11/2010 12:56

I stopped sterlising when they startedb being more mobile and putting things in their mouth's - seemed pointless at that stage. Probably about 6 months.
I would keep them on formula til 12 months - it'll probably be okay - but for the sake of a couple of weeks.

We went on holiday when DD was 11 months and as i didn't want to take loads of formula with me I asked the HV if it was okay to give her full fat and HV said it was fine (DD was eating well at that age).
