I feel absolutely awful. today i dropped 5 week old dd2 out of her car seat. i just put her in it while she was asleep but didn't strap her in. when she woke up i went to move the car seat but didn't click the handle into place. it tipped over & she fell flat on her face onto laminate flooring.

called nhs direct who were satisfied that she is ok. she has a swollen nose & eyebrow.

i can't get the image of her on the floor out of my head. i feel really sick and so sorry for my poor baby :(. What a neglectful mother! fortunately i was at a friend's who calmed me down.

I was dropped down the stairs as a baby when my mum slipped on the stairs - apart from deciding to become a doctor, I am just fine! Wink

Glad you're feeling better about it now Bumper.

DD2 fell from top to bottom of the stairs when she had just started crawling. DH had gone down stairs and left the stair gate open, thinking I was following behind - but I wasn't. I got on to the landing just in time to see DD2 disappear around the banister and tumble all the way down the stairs and land with a thump Shock.

She's 13 now and just trotted out to spend the afternoon with her mates - she doesn't hold it against me Grin.

It happens, I dropped DS3 once when he was little. Furthermore, when DS1 was little, I was throwing him up in the air in our kitchen and he hit his head on the ceiling Blush

He's fine now though Grin Don't worry about it, your baby will be fine.

I was dropped, well and cracked my head on the corner of a dressing table when tiny. I have a dent in the top of my head that you could keep a polo mint in :o. Apart from knowing that a Sinead O'Connor shave will make my head look like the surface of the moon, I haven't be adversely affected.

Oh you poor thing. I slipped on the stairs when ds was 18mo and my first extinct was to put my hands out and i dropped him! how awful am i ! he fell down five steps and banged his head on the tiled floor i can still remember the sound of a cracking egg. I ran down after him and his little face looked up at me whilst crying as if to say why did you do that. He actually went into shock went very quiet and me in my stupid state rang my brother before an ambulance !! By the time we got to a and e he was absolutely fine. I wasnt though i just kept crying and thinking what an awful mother i was. He is fine though and it happens to us all. DS rolled off bed and i also dropped DD at 18 months when i passed her to her dad and thought he had hold of her.My point to this rambling is it happens to us all and dont worry. Tomorrow is another day.
