I didn't try (DD was a complete surprise), but the way it happened would suggest that the "male sperm swim faster" theory is right. Both my boys were very planned pregnancies, so we tended to do the deed on and after ovulation day and I got pregnant quickly both times. It's still a mystery exactly how I fell with DD as I would have sworn that sperm couldn't survive that long!!!!!!

Yes

And ditto for boy (on day of ovuation

A week before ovulation date may be more specific for trying for a girl? Good luck

jane313 · 15/09/2005 15:45

No. I didn't even get pregnant. and 3 months alter am still trying and annoyed that I wasted that month now. It depends how many months you can try for really and there is a theory that it doesn't work anyway. I don't think my son was conceived on the day of ovulation. But then not everyone ovulates 14 days before their period.

i dont personally believe that you can do anything to make a difference to what sex baby you get, but i bet youd be happy with either really!!!

I used an ovulation test, did it on day of ovulation and had a girl.

Definitely conceived DS on the day of ovulation (saw him as an egg on a scan as was having follicle tracking ).

Yes - I planned a girl, read the guides, ate the dairy etc. I also had an orgasm before sex I think it's supposed to make a more alkaline enviroment ? how knows the secret ?

Tried with the first one- all that happened was it took us 18 months! From what I've learned since, we were missing the vital day because I don't ovulate until about day 16 & we were stopping at about day 10! (she did turn out to be a DD)

starlover · 15/09/2005 17:20

no, because i didn't care what i had!

Have conceived 7 times: DS, DD, male late Miscarriage, DS2, Female late miscarriage, male twin late miscarriage and this pregnancy (14 weeks; think it is a girl). All conceived on day of ovulation so I don?t put much stock in trying for a particular gender. My best friend fell pregnant with her dd (after 3 dss) by accident and was really discouraged because she had not tried for a girl and was shocked at the delivery to find that she had a daughter.

I hope that you conceive easily and carry a healthy baby to term. There was a time (not so long ago) that I might have cared about gender but now I just long for a healthy, happy baby.

Tried v v hard for a girl after two boys. Got Harold. Don't care a bit: way I see it, he must have been something special to get through all the XY traps!!!

Mojomummy · 15/09/2005 19:07

yes, agree with you, got my precious DD, had a miscarriage - wasn't trying for boy or girl - so just trying to get pregnant & carry successful. (secretly would like another daughter though )
