Wool longies failed spectacularly! help pls

My much anticipated gorgeous wool longies arrived on Friday so I dutifully lanolised them using left over Lansinoh and they were ready to use last night BUT by 05.00 wee had leaked right through to DD grobag and I had to change everything!

I was so looking forward to using wool reading the glowing reports but it was a disaster (much to dp's relief! 'nice experiment' he said in the wee hours Hmm.

What went wrong? Do I need to lanolise them more than once? (Currently redoing them now...) Use some proper solid lanolin not Lansinoh?

They were quite tight over the nappy (Flexitot Bamboozle with a bamboo booster which can do 13-14 hours with a motherease no problem overnight) and not sure the rise is sufficient to cover it all - is this the problem? DD is 4.5 months so pretty stationary in her grobag, is wool better for more mobile sleepers?

Help! I really want to use wool as it is so soft and lovely plus need to prove dp that it works!!!

wool is meant to be best for mobile sleepers - if they are still all night moisture can be compressed out.

not a wool expert though.

try asking on the clothnappytree wool forum maybe? they are wool geeks experts Grin

I find Disana wool shorties totally and utterly bombproof. Size up and they fit for AGES. DS3 has been in a pair of larges for about a year and a half. And a pair of extra larges for a year. He is almost two now and both pairs still fit well but I expect the XLs to see him through to potty training.

I think hand knitted stuff (though gorgeous) often isn't tight-knit enough.
