Halloween on a sunday?

Hi, I started a thread on this last year as halloween was on a saturday and someone told me kids don't go out on a saturday. turns out I was misinformed.

Well this year my mum, MIL and gran all have told me kids don't go out on a sunday and if halloween falls on a sunday they go out on a saturday! My gran was quite Shock at the fact I was sending them out on a sunday!

Anyway, just finding out if this is an old tradition and if "trick or treating" on a sunday is fine.

My DD's are 2 and 6mo but my niece is 6 and my mum has a themed night every year and has all the trick or treaters in to dunk for apples etc so would hate to not have something on the saturday and the kids all chap the door during the X Factor! :)

Whats the consensus?

As far as I know, it's definitely Sunday round here.

Definitely Sunday here. We've always gone out guising on the actual day, never the nearest Saturday.

We are doing our's on the Saturady. But only because we have a party and I seem to develop an over whelming urge to drink large quantities of alcohol after hosting children's parties.

Oh and my vets are running a sponsered Halloween dog walk and have invited my puppy along on the Sunday.

We're going out on Sunday - that's when Halloween is after all. If other people's religious sensibilities may be offended, they can put a notice up asking trick or treaters not to call. We only call on people whose homes look like their celebrating Halloween anyway. Halloween is as much a part of some people's beliefs & rituals as Sundays are to Christians. They must all learn to share[hgrin]
