Bumgenius leaking - eek!

I have a 4mo DD, and have been using the BG v3 since birth with absolutely no problems. Love them to bits.

However...

Today every nappy I've put on her has leaked after about 45mins. Cue soaking wet patches on both pairs of trousers (I was out all day, you can imagine the fun that was...)

She's average sized, and on the middle set of poppers. Is it time to go to the biggest size, or will they be too loose and make it worse? Or have I missed something else? I didn't forget to put the inserts in, if that's what you're wondering Grin Or is she just going through a 'wee' spell, and "this too shall pass"??

Confused

45 minutes isn't very long. Do you use both inserts? I've been using both inserts for a while now (or even the main insert and a little lamb bamboo booster).
Does your DD wear a vest? Sometimes, especially with microfibre (which can act a bit like a sponge) if the vest is too tight it can cause wicking/leaking at the edges as the pressure the vest puts on the microfibre causes it to leak out rather than hold onto it.
You could try the biggest size and see if that is any better.
Have you been using any nappy rash cream or barrier cream? That can affect absorbancy.
Do you have hard water? I have really soft water and have never had to strip my nappies at all and I've been using them for over 2 years but hard water can lead to a detergent build up so a stripping wash might help.

Thanks Smacs.

I put the booster insert in at night with no problems. She doesn't move much at night though which must help. I tend not to in the day because of the extra bulk.

I did a strip wash at the weekend, coincidentally, as they weren't losing the ammonia smell. I'll try them in another non-detergent wash again, just to be sure.

No nappy cream, she's never had nappy rash.

Her vests are all pretty saggy round the bottom, because of the size of the nappies, but I will try the next size up just in case.

All the leakage seems to be between her legs, rather than the outside. I wonder if it's because her legs are squishing together more and spoiling the seal? She spends less time froglike now.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've got plenty to work on now! Smile
