leaky stinky nappies

Ok I am unhappy.

My nappies stink, my washing machine stinks and my baby stinks when he pees.

And they leak. A lot.

What can I do? Little Lambs microfibre, been using about 2.5 months. Was just washing at 40 as per instructions. Have tried numerous rinses and still just as bad. Feel like giving up.

Am I supposed to be doing something with vinegar? Idiot proof instructions please.

TIA

i have LL bamboo ones so no idea what the microfibre ones are like.

when i wash them i do a cold rinse, as hot water 'cooks' the pee in. then do a normal 40 degree wash.

i use soapnuts instead of detergent as it doesn't leave any build up and is better for dds skin.

feel silly asking but are you making sure the wrap is on properly and no nappy is peeking through?

strip them....also if your baby is teething their wee can become toxic and smell really strong, dd has this.

wash them with a full amount of powder(I know you are only meant to use a small amount when washing in general to avoid biuld up but this is ok for stripping).
Then rinse them and keep rinsing until you can no longer see bubbles in your washing machine. Mine usually take a the full wash, then 3 rinse cycles to totally get rid of all the powder.

I do it every 6 months or so

Re leakage, babies change shape as they grow. DD has gone through every kind of nappy. try clothnappytree.com you can buy preloved, or swap nappies and see what works for you. DD leaked out of LL microfibre easily. You might be better with bamboo or hemp insertsSmile

Thanks for the replies.

Bamboobutton, I figured it must be not going on properly too but they really are. Actually sometimes leaking through the front of the wrap too, where the label is attached.

Wondering if its because we use the sling a lot and it is squeezing out the wee, like a sponge?

Went for the mf as we have small flat with problems drying washing. Needing a new set of clothes each nappy change is not helping.

Will try the stripping, thanks.

perhaps you have a faulty batch of wraps.

contact LLs and see if you can exchange for some different ones.

We get more leaks when slinging - I think it does squeeze wee out of the nappy more!
