Do you occasionally lose the plot or is it just me?

I flipped tonight and threw something at my dd It hurt her and im really guilt ridden.
Combination of not enough sleep, kids not doing as they are told but really I know there is no excuse.
Do you flip sometimes?

Can't believe there is a parent out there who hasn't 'flipped' at something. You are not alone Charliecat.

MarsLady · 09/09/2005 21:06

yup! They get over it quicker than we do!

Cooperoo · 09/09/2005 21:08

Yes and Marslady is right.

My Mum says her biggest regret EVER is slapping me round the face . She says I was 9 or 10 but I don't remember it at all. Try not to panic. Perhaps apologise ??? I don't know really my eldest is still just 2.5.

charliecat · 09/09/2005 21:15

I have, loads of times.

Yep, only yesterday I lost it big time over something trivial.
I felt so bad afterwards that I apologised to ds & gave him a hug, but sometimes I am so tired or wound up in general, that it just happens.

Cooperoo · 09/09/2005 21:21

Awww, please try not to beat yourself up about it. Things mount up and we all snap sometimes. You are obviously a good mum or you wouldn't be on here worrying about it.

fqueenzebra · 09/09/2005 21:21

Yes, Charliecat, but would rather not reveal details.

MarsLady · 09/09/2005 21:22

charliecat... stop beating yourself up about it. She'll forget soon enough and if she doesn't forget immediately or even ever she will get over it. My mother slapped me in my face was I was 11. I had worried her sick and she was frantic.

She felt bad for ages, but I got over it cos I realised that I hadn't helped my own case.

It's okay honey. Honest it is! We all do it and the ones that say they don't well..... they have deep seated issues lol

mummyhill · 09/09/2005 21:25

It happens to all of us, but as they say to err is human. I flipped out earlier today over DD's temper tantrum and after we had both calmed down we had a kiss and a cuddle and made friends again. By the time she went to bed this evening she had forgotten all about it.

charliecat · 09/09/2005 21:26

LOL Marslady. I threw the bottle of Mr Muscle i had in my hand towards her in a Ive Had Enough way and it caught her on the neck and has left 3 red marks like lovebites on her face and neck.
Cant believe it, really.
I hope its not her one and only memory of childhood...aarrgghhh

Of course. We're not robots.

Have a hug and then a glass of wine and a bath!

Passionflower · 09/09/2005 22:01

Can't believe that there is any one of us that hasn't. Don't worry but I'd apologise if I were you.

charliecat · 09/09/2005 22:08

I have, I really have, and I will again. I didnt mean to sounded so so so so so lame.

MarsLady · 09/09/2005 22:14

charliecat if you have apologised I think you should let it rest. Accept the fact that like most of us you are human. Build a bridge and get over it honey.

She's fine! You'll be fine! Go bake some lemon drizzle cake. You'll feel so much better!

magnolia1 · 10/09/2005 12:54

I lose it verbally quite often and have on two occasions grabbed one of my twins out of frustration in a way I have really regretted

We all lose it at times and anyone who has Never lost it is pretty rare!!
