reluctant SAHM help?!

I have never been keen to be a SAHM I'm one of those people who enjoys work and find I enjoy my children more if I have been fulfilled in the adult world at work. I now find myself possibly having to be a SAHM for a 3 year old (at free part time bursery) and a 5 month old. So for a slightly reluctant not exactly relishing this marvellous opportunity like I probably should be doing mum does anyone have any tips to get me through the days - what should I be doing with them? Should I be doing structured play or just let them get on with it? should we go on outings? Do I have to 'teach' them anything? How will I stop them being bored? Agh!

Only one tip from me -

Make sure you meet up with other SAHMs!

Seriously, go to a toddler group at the library, check out the local surestart childrens' centre, go to a music group, join the NCT, anything. Just get some adult company factored into your week. :)

Get other mums round after nursery for coffee.

Get out as much as possible and meet other folk with kids the same age.

Book swimming lessons while eldest at nursery.

Never mind them getting bored, motivate yourself so you don't get bored as it can drag.

Im a SAHM and found it easy with first but find it hard with 3 yr old and 9 month old but still filling callander as much as poss.

make sure you have something planned for every day. The way my week works out, 2 days we have a regular toddler class (music, art), one day I have a regular playdate with 2 friends with kids same age, one day we meet up with nct group, and the other day we usually end up with something planned, even if it's just meeting my neighbour at the playground round the corner.

Don't think you have to go back to the 1950s and become the perfect housewife, just enjoy spending time with the kids. But don't feel guilty about letting them watch Cbeebies while you MN either Blush
