Norton Family Internet controls

We have just set up parental controls on our laptop using Norton family minder but "mysteriously" I have had 2 emails from Norton saying it had been disabled - both times records show my son was logged on and he was the only one in the house ! After the first one I changed my password on the account but it happened again ! My 12 year old son was nearly hysterical when we talked to him about it maintaining his innocence but the evidence points to the fact that (somehow) he has disabled it. The help system says he can't disable it without my email address and password but I can't see how he has my new password - any technos know if it is possible for him to turn it off or not ? It also says on the internet log that Vista parental controls have been enabled but I don't have a clue what this is ? Anyone please who can offer any insight ?

You probably know the answer to this as it has been over a month - just read it as I'm keen to install parental control.

I have a background in software so can give my view...
Windows Vista which is presumably your operating system (it is the Windows software package that may have come installed on your PC or you bought the software and loaded it onto your pc)has great built-in parental controls as part of the package.

These Vista Parental Controls have obviously been enabled(as your internet log mentioned). This may, in turn, have overridden and turned off Nortons family minder package as this also happens when window firewalls clash with other security software.

The upshot is that you will have to make the Norton package your default package and turn off all Vista parental controls if that Norton Package is your preferred parental control package...

Forgot to add - that I therefore think your 12 year old is not the culprit. The clue was in the enablement of Vista..
