Washable nappies and olive oil!

Does anyone have any experience of how olive oil affects nappies (I'm thinking in particular of bamboozle stretchies and bumbles)?

DD has quite dry skin so I like to massage her with olive oil before she goes to bed at night. I try to put very little oil on the areas that will come into contact with her nappies such as the top of her thighs but some oil will come into contact with the nappy.

Am I going to completely wreck my nappies by doing this? I haven't noticed any problems with absorbancy so far, but don't want to risk long term problems.

Thanks in advance

Hi Kia

I am not sure about actual neat olive oil. But most nappycreams are oil based and they don't seem to affect my nappies!
I guess if its just a light covering of oil it will be fine, and anyway, I guess you would not want to put too much oil n and block the pores of the skin!

So long as you are washing the nappies hot I am sure that the oil will most likely wash out!

Sorry I can't be more help. Just giving you my thoughts!

Thanks Sofia.

I'll carry on doing what I'm doing as I haven't noticed any problems.

Its greasy substanses that are not recommended to be used with reusables. I sometimes put oil on DD2 skin as she gets quite dry and ive never noticed any problems with my nappies if i only use a small amount, but one of my nappies leaked terribly when i used sudocream on DD1 and was never the same since. If they are ok so far id carry on but only use small amounts or get a special nappy cream for use with cloth.
