Anyone else started Christmas shopping?

I ordered some of my DS's Christmas presents online today and started buying stocking fillers in August. I am due to give birth on 15th December so trying to be organised. Please reassure me that I'm not the only mad one who's started thinking Christmas.....

I started in April.

I have had two babies due on Christmas Day and getting organised early was a godsend so I did't have to think of anything other than a squishy cuddly new baby come December. [broody]

No not mad, i have been buying little bits for months mainly books and stocking fillers and a scooter for dc2.

I like to be organised.

I started in August too! Not got loads but some books and one of DDs main presents... and worked out what we will buy for others - payday tomorrow... yay!

I started this weekend and tonight I got out my christmas book so I can start making lists of what I need to get, keep track of what I've bought and spent and other general to do lists

Now that I've sat a wrote a list of who I need to buy presents for I wish I'd started buying sooner!

I've made a cake.

I'm so pleased that I'm not the only one. I think that if you start early it helps spread the cost as well.
I'm looking for an xmas pudding recipe at the moment!

SacharissaCripslock - you have made me feel sane again. DH keeps telling me to shut up about Christmas but I know that it won't get organised if I don't do it and everyone will end up with socks and pants for presents, poor DS will get a lump of coal from Santa and we'll all have chicken sandwiches for lunch while I'm in hospital giving birth!

mamamiafigaro - where did you get your scooter from? Am looking to get one for DS.

I have bought lots of books and a mamas and papas rocking catterpilla! soooo excited.

bought my recently divorced sister a dildo. Sounds a little extreme I know but I hope it puts a smile on her face!

I tend to purchase year round to spread out the cost.

With so many kids I need to. :(

I'm done except for one stocking stuffer each I want to get, but I'm hoping they will go on sale before then, so I'm just waiting and watching. There were things that I'd know they'd love on such great sales, (mostly buy one get one free) that I thought it would make no sense to wait, as I can't imagine they'd be any cheaper from now till then.

What sort of things do you put in your DC's stockings and do you leave them downstairs on in their room. DS will be 2 2/3 this year so first one he'll really start to know what's happening.

Yes, I bought a present for my nephew last week - something related to going back to school that won't be in the shops for long!

I have started buying a bit bot not in an organised way. Family in Dublin and we live in Budapest. Normally go home for Xmas but staying here this year. Going home first week in Jan so will bring family presents then.

Need to do list. Have so much else to think about at the moment that I am likely to be a bit disorganised this year.

Will make a cake next month.

Thinking about making some chutneys.

Have made enquiries about a drum kit for DS.

Bradyboo - i got the scooter months ago from morrisons, its a Little Tykes my first scooter (dc2 is only 2.6y) and he is always on his sisters!

I also have a little christmas book that i write what i have bought and what batterys it needs so near christmas i can go on a battery shop and get them all at once with out un earthing all my stash.

Yes - I have brought most non-requested presents - I do it throughout the year whenever I see a bargain. I'm just waiting for christmas lists off dh's family which annoys me no end because they insist on lists and then don't publish them until we're into December and I have to rush around paying full price for stuff in the shops as it'll be too late to reliably order online. They're all adults as well and I keep hinting that we should drop this and give token presents but usually get shouted down in outrage

I've got a couple of things but am planning to start next month after I get paid.

Yeah I know - it sucks all the fun out of it - 'I want x dvd' 'ok here it is'.
There are reasons that dh won't challenge the status quo which I respect but it does annoy me as I do the xmas shopping and I hate paying full price for anything [tight arse emoticon] but I usually supplement it with something chosen rather than asked for.

Yes, I've been shopping for a while now. I buy one item a week every week from summer until Christmas - these are just little stocking fillers (but includes things like vests, pants, new slippers etc) that are easy enough to pick up in the weekly shop and just get thrown in the basket, so we don't notice the price :)

I have also bought both the girls' big presents, and a few middling ones too.

I do have both their birthdays in Nov, and DHs birthday in Dec, so if I don't start early I'm usually bankrupted by jan!

yes i've done about half of mine, made both my christmas cakes and i've made a list of gifts left to get.I was just sat thinking about doing some wrapping soon

I'm finished too. It's all stashed in the loft. Had to as my Statutory Maternity Leave pay runs out in December.

brady I'm due 6th December so I've started extra early this year. Done most of DS's and know what I want to get for the baby. Shot myself in the foot last year that the (new) dog got DS a present so need to carry that on. Glad someone mentioned slippers - must get DS some. And don't forget the teachers (aaarrggghhhh). LOL at hippo great idea!

Thinking about christmas cake and have even bought the dried fruit. Its sitting there looking at me. I usually make little xmas cakes as well and give them to the teacher and my friends. In a way I can't wait to be done with christmas stuff, but they've already got choc advent calendars in my supermarket so I've got months of looking at it!
