DD is (and always has been) extremely physical. It's fine when we're outside playing (in fact she's awesome and fearless and is physically capable above her age), but when she's inside it;s a nightmare.

She's constantly climbing on furniture, swinging on doors, climbing up door frames, breaking toys (by accident, but because she's too rough with them iykwim), and she's unbelievably LOOOOUUUD!. Also she has two younger brothers and she's too rough with them: pushing them over, rugby tackling them, shouting too loudly in the baby's face to "entertain" him.

Last week she grabbed a girl by the hair while playing "tag" and rugby tackled another to the ground, which resulted in a scraped knee Blush. The Dad of one of these girls rather generously compared DD to Tank Girl. It was an amusing comparison, but also quite scarily true.

Obviously I had v stern words with her about these incidences, and I feel like I'm constantly nagging at her to be more gentle / quieter.

There must be a way of sorting this out....any advice????

Swiss finishing school? Wink

No help here really. I have an almost 5 year old daughter and two older boys. She's pretty convinced that she's a boy as well and wants to play rugby like her big brother when she's older. Not for her the calm activities of ballet or gymnastics - she's far rather wrestle her brothers (or anyone else for that matter) to the ground and roughhouse them.

WB - :) if she was just a typical boyish roughhouser I'd not be bothered. I don't think I'm judging her by girly standards...she's rougher than a lot of her boy friends!

Could you channel her energy into karate perhaps. You get to box each other with pads so it can get rough but in a controlled way iyswim.

I have considered that FSD, but we are super skint at the moment (hopefully temporarily). Will investigate it when we have more dish. Is there a risk of just making her more dangerous though (eek!)?

Sport, sport and more sport. Running, walking, whatever. Sounds like she has lots of excess energy. She needs tiring out physically.
