Hi, in a bid to get the boys off the PS3 I want to start having a family games night. We have monopoly and scrabble but bit fed up of them! Wondered if anyone could recommend any other games which would be suitable and are fun. DS's are 11 and 13. Many thanks.

Rapidough is a firm favourite with my DC.

I have Go For Broke - to win you have to lose a million pounds and can go to the casino, horse racing, etc. DS loves it.

Cluedo is also a good challenge, but you can't beat Uno. DS and I have weeklong tournaments when we're camping (but how is it mercenary?)

Rummikub is excellent (like Rummy but played with tiles) and how about Yahtzee? Surprisingly addictive!

DH and I love Settlers of Catan (DD is too young to play!). It's suitable from 13+ but a bright 11yo would also enjoy it. You build villages and cities, from which you collect raw materials. Use the raw materials to build more villages and cities.

Cranium is also a brilliant game too.

We love Cluedo too. Faves here are dominoes and lots of different card games, rummy, pateince and 2's, 8's and jacks.

Risk, Cheat, Mastermind, Cluedo, Draughts, Othello, Jenga and Twister were my childhood faves
