Hiya, well i have 3 and are ttc 4, but would love a massive family! But i get comments like oh i hope you stop at 4, how many children do you have and if you have a big family what do you say to people who object to big familys?

How many is too many? More than you want.
What to say to people? Mind your own buisness

I agree

If you only had one you would have plenty criticising and telling you that wasn't right. You can never please anyone. So don't try - do what is right for you and ignore everyone who has an unwanted opinion.

For me, too many is a number that would necessitate buying a different mode of transport from a typical family car. Therefore, for me, three is plenty (and probably two will be enough).

But I cannot imagine telling anyone that that's how they should do things too! Some people are just too damn nosy (I'm 21 weeks pg with second child - and already people are saying "So, will you stop at two then?" - acquaintances too, not friends!).

I also get comments like why would you want more as i have both sexes, but i say because we want a big family my hubby works and we can afford another baby so i dont see why my friends and family argue with me about having anymore !

It's none of their business! Ask them why they're so concerned.

noddyholder · 04/09/2005 15:45

If you are healthy and can afford there is no such thing as too many I only have 1 for health reasons but would love more so go for it!and tell people to mind their own business

I have 4 girls and would love a couple more but dh says no

As many as you and your partner want

I found when I lived in England, everybody had to comment on my familoy (three boys close together)- either 'that's alot of hard work', or 'I guess you'll have to have another to get your girl'. In Wales, we get more positive comments- everybody here seems to like bigger famillies.

I may have one more, I am trying to work out if I will at the mo. If I do won't be for four years but then I might want to get my career going, but I DO love babies and always wanted four, and I still get broody.

My mum had 4, my sisters had 3 each, ( children that is)

I will have a talk to them all later and discuss with them what there problem is, my pregnancys are ok , i do get sickness but doesnt everyone, so cant see why there concerned !
thanks for everyones support!!

Just a thought, Mu Mum stopped at three but dad was desperately sad as he wanted to replicate his wonderful (his phrase) family- he was one of sixteen. I couldn't imagine that myself and I can certainly see ways that it was a less than wonderful childhood despite his rosy glasses, but he was happy.

fqueenzebra · 04/09/2005 20:15

I don't think I am managing very well with my 3, perhaps that's too many already for me.(!)

But I have known some lovely, happy families of 4-6. It obviously depends a lot on how your family works, and the chemistry of the whole gang.

i think one is too many
