Baby suddenly waking earlier in the night?

My five and a half week old has until now been in a fairly predictable routine of feed/awake/sleep during the day (feeding every three hours) and then sleepimg 7 to 11 pm and then waking almost like clockwork at 330-4am and 7am. This routine was partly his doing and partly pura- he is very happy witht it and gaining weight at the rate of knots so we are comfortable with the 'routine'. However, a few nighta thia week he has woken at 230-3am and then again at 5am. He is hungry so i feed him, and he feeds agaim around 730am. Does anyone have any experience of this? Is this likely to be a growth spurt? Please dont tell me off about the routine - i know all newborns are different but he has slept and fed this way since day 3 hence i am confuseD by the 'winding back' to waking twice at night! Thanks so much :)

Definately sounds like a growth spurt. My DS has gone from sleeping through from 10pm till 8am (smug emoticon) to suddenly waking at 5am! (not so smug now emoticon!) Grin
