Could anyone like to help me design a wee notions?

Hello,

I'm thinking of ordering a custom wee notions nappy for ds, due in 4 weeks. Either a Halloween one, or a Christmas one - although I'm open to persuasion to get both.

The problem is that I am a. very indecisive and b. completely uncreative.

So I'd like some ideas please.

I'm quite a fan of penguins, and they have some nice embroideries, but I'm rubbish at working out which colours and fabrics etc to put it on.

This will hopefully be the first dc of several, so a fairly unisex combo would be great as then it can be recycled. Do you think a one size would be best in this case? I'm worried it'll be mahoosive on a tiny - although he's looking to be biggish at birth.

Thanks in advance if anyone is happy to play with me on this one :)

I don't know what a wee notions nappy is, but it seems a bit silly to get one specifically for halloween or Christmas. What happens in January when you still want to use it and it's covered in santas or robins etc.? Also your son won't be wearing just a nappy in the middle of winter, so all your hard work in choosing the design will be hidden under a babygrow.

If you want it for use on several children, I'd avoid 'gender specific' colours like pink and blue, and maybe get some nice bright reds, greens, neutrals, with a design that will be appropriate all year round and a size that will last as long as possible.

Good luck for your son's birth Smile

Lol, thank you - talk some sense into the hormonal lady! You are, of course, spot on, if I'm going to pay that much for it to be customised it's stupid to get one that's only for a couple of days a year -at a push- even if it will be for more than one.

In that case I might totally change tack and save to get some gorgeous summer ones for when we go an visit dh's parents in Marseille next summer. Then everyone can admire see it.

Thanks for being so honest and helpful :)

Why not go for a design like this, zebra splash scene all you will have to choose is the fabric for the inner. It's cute and unisex and would fit at any age. I think it may be a little bulky but they grow so fast it's not worth buying smaller sizes if you're spending that amount.

Oh, that is super cute! Well spotted, thanks for that!

Have you tried them? Do you know if poppers or touch tape is a better option?

Thanks so much :)

I would go for poppers as aplix can look tatty and collect fluff after a while. It can also catch on embroidery threads. Toddlers can undo aplix easier, I think they like the noise it makes!

Yes I have tried them on a 6mths+ baby but not a newborn, they are great fitting and the Wee notions own inserts are very absorbent.

Ok, great thanks. Looks like it'll be some one size poppers. I might hold off on them for a few months then, until he's a little bit bigger.

Thank you for all the advice :)
