hello,

am after some advice please. with ds i used disposables until about 4 weeks and then went onto tots bots size 1 coloured bamboo with motherease rikki wraps.

dc2 due soon and i would like to use then from the start. i have been given imse vimse nappies-they don't use a nappy nippa, just sort of fold over iykwim and are very slim compared to the tots bots.

can anyone recommend a wrap that i could use-was thinking maybe fleece or me rikki in xs, or can anyone recommend a better one? also can i ask what happens to the bellybutton, does the nappy and wrap adjust low enough or does it go inside? the disposables just folded down or the ones in hospital were cut around it... Confused

thank you!

:)

You will have no problem using cotton nappies from the start. I used them with DS as soon as I left hospital.
I used a my ME Riki wrap with no problem.
I kept the umbilical cord outside the wrap and don't remember having any problem.

ME rikki are fab on newborns, we used them with a muslin and nippa for first 2 weeks and had no probs.

with my son (now 6) I used booster pads with proraps in the hospital, they were pretty cheap to get hold of and the wraps have a cut out for the cord, they also seemed to contain that awful newborn poo pretty well and washed easily. There's usually some of them floating around second hand. This time round I've bought a stack of muslins, boosters and plan to do pretty much the same. Then I'll be switching to the pretty nappies :)

Yes Rikki wraps or the Bummis superbrites in newborn sizes would be good choices. Both I think have a dipped front for the cord (i know the Bummis one does for sure, just checked!)
Love the Bummis more though as find the velcro better
