Anyone used one and are they any good?

A friend has suggested one for my teething DD and swears by hers.
My DD is only 3mths though so dont feel happy about her wearing a necklace that young really but ive seen anklets. Would they work too?

Whats the therory behind them?

Amber is a natural analgesic and when worn next to the skin it releases small ammounts of oil which are absorbed into the skin, thus taking away some of the pain of teething.

All my dc have amber necklaces, my youngest dc is 7.5 months and has been wearing his since he was about four months old. I really do swear by them.

My dad has arthritis in his ankle and he wears an anklet and it does help.

I keep meaning to buy one for myself but never get round to it...

Utter bollocks IMVHO. Although I've only been on MN for a year or so, I've seen this question about 7 times. Have a good look through the archives. We have just moved from Switzerland where they seem to be handed out from birth. I spoke to a doctor about it and he said it was a cultural thing with no science behind it. Horses for courses I suppose.

I was about to say like Kreechers that it is very very common in switzerland! I was never told it was a cultural thing though.
