My children are 6 and 3. Will there ever be a good time to do a Masters?

I've found a good part time master course. 3 years to do the full masters but exit points after each year.

I'm really keen, but know that right now would not be the best time. DS2 not starting school for another year, maybe even 2 years.

So, how long do i wait?

Wait ONE year and start at the same time your dc2 starts school. That way you have a plan and it's only one year away.

This advice comes from somebody with no third level education whatsoever btw!

Sorry, I see your son may not start next year. Wait 'til you know, and then make a decision. I am doing a course (so embarrassingly menial compared to a masters) but this is the first year since 2002 that it has been possible.

I work full time, so would need to study around that.

Too much?

I would plan to start it next year, and if your ds2 doesn't start school then, you can delay another year if necessary. But start making the plans now.

I think you can do a masters over six years, it is hard work but if you love the subject, then go for it.

I would love to do a masters but I need to finish the course I'm on first and get a job.

I have a two year old (he's 3 end of Sept)and am in the final 6 months of my full time MA which lasts 18mths and includes placements.

If I had thought about it too much I would never have started it. So either jump and accept its going to be very hard at times especially around christmas or wait.

As much as I have loved it and would recommened anyone do it the people who's children go to school have found it significantly easier. I am living in a blur and its blinking hardwork! However I will be working and settled when DS starts school.

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer.

Watching with interest. I want to finish my accountancy papers. ds1(6.7) and ds2(2).
