Hi I am new on here. I have just had my preschool review with the health visitor for my 3 year old son, and during the course of this she asked about him being toilet trained which he is in the day. I said to her that he was still wet at nights and she said not to worry till he was 7. This then made me ask about my daughter, she is 6 and half and she is still very unreliable at night.
She suggested getting in touch with the school nurse about her going to Incontinence group, im not sure I like this idea because I don't want to make it a huge deal for her, but I could really do with some ideas on how to tackle this without upsetting her. I have tried the lifting in the night thing but she sleeps so deep that she just wont wake up and when she does she makes such a fuss, it wakes the whole house! I have also tried to cut drinks down at tea time but she does a lot of running around before bed and I feel bad that she shouldn't have a little drink when she says she is so thirsty. Any ideas??

It is more common than you might think, but will be embarrassing when she is invited for sleepovers of overnight school trips.

My nephew has used the nasal spray desmopressin and found it really helped.

On the one hand I understand why you do not want to make a big deal out of it, but on the other hand, as she gets older, she will get more and self-conscious and embarrassed about it, which is not great for her self-esteem.

The school nurse or your GP, in a low key way, sound entirely sensible moves at this stage, before it becomes a real issue for her.
