Talk to me about your 16 month babies

DS is 16 months and seems to have fallen out of his routine with sleep. I think this is because he now needs much less sleep.

So I need to think about a new routine for him. I like him to be in bed for the night at 7ish but now it seems to be much later leaving me with less 'me' time!

Atm he is waking at 8ish which is fantastic i know, having a nap at 12 of 2 hours and then awake and running around until 10!!!!

I don't mind earlier mornings if I have the evening to relax and get on top of chores. Day time naps I am thinking to wake him after an hour maybe?

So when do your babies of similar ages nap, go to sleep for the night etc?

My DD is 16 months and goes to bed at 7, this has been the case since about 6 months.

She generally wakes somewhere between 6.30 and 7.15 am, but has her nap early - if we're at home she'll be ready for a nap by 11 am, although I can stretch this til 12 if we're at a playgroup. She'll sleep for 1.5-2 hours normally.

I think I'd go nuts if she was still up and about at 10 pm; I'm often in bed by then!

I'd waken him earlier in the morning TBH - if you get him up at 7am and bring his nap forward a little he should be tired earlier in the evening. Is he walking? If so, a long spell in the park running around in the afternoon might also help.

DD is 17 months now but she has always gone to bed at 7.30, and since about 16mo wakes up between 8 and 8.30. She has a 2 hour sleep at 12 but sometimes sleeps for 3 hours! I think I must be a lucky Mummy with a very sleepy girl... She does rush around non-stop in between though.

Thanks Ladies... And lucky you debka!

DS woke up a little earler today so i put him down for a nap at 11 then woke him at 12 (maybe a bit early but we had somewhere to go) Then he was ready for bed again at 6pm so he is fast asleep now.. I hope he sleeps through with it being an hour before I was hoping. Btw we are overseas if so we are 2 hours ahead.

strawberrie he is walking and did take him out this afternoon to tire him as you suggested.

This summer has just got on top of me with routines and the late nights are just not working anymore. It is a very hot summer here where we live so at first it was better for him sleeping late as going out in the evening to the parks suited us. However now is cooling down 7pm is a must.
