DS, almost 2 years old has always been a problem sleeper... Now he has sussed out that he can escape from his cot, it is even harder...

at the moment i have to lie next to him in my bed to make him sleep... which is not good and which i want to stop... i dont know how though..

any experience? tips?

DS is due to have a proper toddler bed mid-september when DS2 will graduate to the cot - in the same bedroom.

I'd recommend putting him in bed just now if possible so he doesn't feel pushed out of the cot.

I moved DD into bed at 18 months as she managed to climb out and wouldn't risk her falling while attempting to climb, took a few days to get her to stay in bed though!

What worked here was putting DD to bed after usual routine and every single time she got up returning her to bed saying "it's bedtime now, time to be in your bed, see you in the morning". Absolutely didn't give in or deviate from that meant had to return her to bed ooh about a million times the first night, maybe a thousand times the next, but by the end of first week she generally got it!
