My DS is 2 1/2 and still has 8oz of milk in the morning and before bed.

I don't know when I should start to cut this down and would love some advice. Also he still has it in a bottle and i'm trying to get him off it before baby arrives in November and he refuses to drink his milk out of anything else - any ideas please xxxx

My DD is 2.1yrs and has a beaker of cows milk when she wakes in the morning and sometimes in the evening. She doesnt 'need' it just likes it and Milk is good for her so I dont mind.
If she doesnt drink it then it doesnt matter.

re getting him off the bottle. I'd be tempted to just offer it to him in a beaker and say heres your milk. If he doesnt drink it its not the end of the world as he doesnt NEED it.
Just be consistant in offering the beaker and he will soon get the idea.

We changed from bottles at about 18mths.

I agree with pp, I'd def. try and get him off the bottle and onto a beaker, or even free flow sippy cup as an intermediate step. My ds is 2yrs 4mnths and always has milk on his cereal in the mornings, he will often ask for a drink of milk too, or sometimes he just has diluted fruit juice with his breakfast. He always has a warm milk before bed, while we have a snuggle on the sofa-its part of his bedtime routine, and I know a lot of adults who still like a milky drink before bed so don't see any harm.

Milk is pretty healthy so I let him have milk whenever he asks for it.

What got DS off the bottle was a cup with a straw in it. He'd not had one before and the novelty was enough to get through those awkward couple of nights where he asked for the bottle.

Stick the bottles in recycling and don't look back Grin

DD (2.7) would have 40 fits if I put her bottles in the recycling, a couple of awkward nights wouldn't come close, I'd have to leave home! :o

That's what I thought Rockbird. DS was about 2.5 I think (it was such a non issue I can't even remember when it was) :)
