I dont know what to do! my 5 month old baby is has been screaming and crying all day and I am losing my mind....on top of it I have a migraine and a blocked nose and this screaming baby... I keep changing her nappy, feeding, etc... she took a brief nap and is calm while feeding...but all other waking moments not happy. what do you do...besides a walk, already done that and am exhausted..

poor you. I guess you haven't got a swing? I put mine in the swing when she's like that.

TV, or a sling?

Or Calpol? If this is unusual for her then perhaps she is ill?

LadySanders · 27/08/2010 17:50

i'm assuming you've checked her temp and she's not unwell? or maybe got teeth coming through? try a bit of calpol? (i'm not advocating chucking the stuff around but i do use it occasionally if there seems to be something non specific wrong with one of my dc)

I would agree with LS re. the calpol - often takes the edge of it, as does teetha - could s/he be teething?? I'd try those - check the temp as well. Hope you're ok though, it is like torture isn't it? Esp if you're feeling rubbish too.

I'd also feed more often as that often helps (if you're feeding her, I suppose not so much if you're using bottles...) Maybe try some massage on the off chance it's constipation or wind? I stick mine in the car when this happens - the motion usually gets them off to sleep and you can pull over and read/doze etc

They do go through a funny stage at this age, just before they start sitting, rolling and crawling - like all of the big developmental leaps they get a bit more fretful around that time.
hope the night gets a bit easier - have you got someone else there with you tonight? Just do whatever it takes to keep calm and sane. take care.
