Can kids be too honest?

I remember when I was a kid we lived next door to the little village shop.

I went in there alone and the shopkeeper said "How's your mum?"

I said "She's constipated".

I was completely baffled by the raucous laughter of everyone in the shop.

Luckily my mum also saw the funny side, although we did move fairly soon after.

I wrote my mum a mothers' day poem at school that read 'My mum is half fat and half thin'

I was on the tube with my DS1 when he was 4 (he's now 19) and he was studying my face intently. I expected him to say "Mummy, you are so beautiful" as 4 year olds do.

He then said "you've got a lot of spots Mum" very loudly in a quiet carriage.
