7mth old high pitched screeching

Hi there, I have a gorgeous 7mth old baby girl who eats and sleeps well. She has lots of playtime and naps during the day and sleeps all night from 7pm until 6:30am. The only thing I cannot work out is that every now and again she does this dreadful high pitched screeching - it is not dirty nappy, tiredness, hunger etc as I go through all those checks. All i can think is that she is just a determined little girl and constantly wants attention but I am keen to stop it before she becomes a toddler and does it to get her own way!!??? Anyone else had this and did they manage to stop it? Any ideas gratefully received!!

Hi, my 8.5 month old does the same. I put it down to fascination with their own voices and sheer joy of life. Haven't tried to stop it yet, as she's only small, but I would perhaps suggest ignoring it as much as you can. For now :)

Thanks Skorpion. I can quite happily ignore it but when I go and see family or friends it ends up being the topic of conversation and my mum thought that maybe some kind of negative association with the noise would help train her to stop doing it e.g clapping your hands to give her a shock whenever she does it?!?

i think it might be a developmental thing, ie they discover they can make that noise and are exploring it, as my ds and my friends ds have been doing the same thing. Having them both in the same room is interesting. Hmm It's already calming down so i'm just guessing it will stop., like his thumb sucking and waking himself by rolling over in his sleep phases!
