Has my newborn got night and day confused?

DS2 is 3 and a half weeks old and the past few nights have been hellish - last night he woke for feeds at 11.30, 1.45am, 4am, 5am and then up for the day at 7am.

Yesterday in the day he slept well, waking at 10am, 2pm, 4.30pm for feeds, and having his final feed before bed at 7pm.

He's bottle fed and I worked out that last night he took about 16oz of milk across those night feeds (didn't keep track of what he took during the day), but that seems quite a lot to me considering what the recommendation on the packet says.

Anyway, does this sound like he's got day and night muddled? Or a growth spurt? Or the end of my sleep forever and ever??

And, mores the point, is there anything I can do about it?

This is my second baby but I really can't remember anything from the first time round Confused

Sounds like it - have you tried keeping the night feeds as quiet as possible and not talking to him? Then during the day try and gently keep him awake for a bit - playing with him. Maybe feeding him downstairs if night feeds are upstairs?
