right now my 4 week old is screaming his head off, he is inconsolable with colic, nothing i do seems to make the least difference to him, it's been going on for about 24 hours and i'm in despair.
will it hurt him if i let him lie there and just cry it out while i eat my lunch?

It won't do him any harm. Take some time out, it's so hard when they scream all day. Is there anyone who can come over and help you? Someone who can hold him for half an hour while you clear your head? x

Mine's 5 weeks and does the same thing.... it's heart wrenching :-(

The only thing I can suggest that sometimes helps with my DS is sitting him upright on my lap and letting him suck my finger. Not sure if the finger makes him chill out a bit or whether he just finds it too hard to scream with it in his mouth but it does work a lot of the time.
